Our Policy:
Camp Don Lee’s programs include many water-based activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and sailing.
Campers do not need to know how to swim in order to enjoy these activities.
The Swim Check:
On Sunday afternoon, once campers arrive, they will participate in a swim check to measure their swimming ability. They will swim one lap (approximately 25 yards) on their stomach, one lap on their back, and one lap of their choice (either on their stomach or back) totaling three laps in the shallow end of our swimming pool. They will then tread water under the close supervision and within reach of a lifeguard for two minutes.
If a campers cannot swim nor successfully complete the entire swim test, they will not be required to do so. However, they will be required to wear a life jacket when they want to go swimming outside of the shallow end of the pool.
