Common Ground is Don Lee Camp and Retreat Center’s team building program. This program utilizes our low element challenge course and is for participants in third grade or older. This adventure/challenge curriculum is designed to build community and understanding. It is the perfect opportunity for students to work together and gain an understanding of cooperation skills and team building concepts.
The goal of the Common Ground program is for students to discover they are not just an individual member of the class, but that they can accomplish great things when they become members of a common team!
Introduced Skills include:
- Problem solving
- Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem
- Collaboration and Cooperation
This program is incredibly active for your students. In addition to a series of warm-up games and group initiatives, our challenge course offers a variety of different low-element station. Each activity at the course is designed to help students work as a group to accomplish the goals, task, and obstacles set by a trained facilitator. Our facilitators are highly knowledgeable in the group processing experience, and are skilled at the art of identifying and understanding the group process.
As their teacher, please take time to prepare the students for the day. Set expectations for the group and speak with them about what goals they hope to accomplish, both individually and as a group.
The rewards and results for your students can be amazing after only a day of challenge course activities. This experience can open a student’s eyes to the wonder and adventure that comes from being a member of a team.
