Check-in and Pick Up Day

Sunday Check-in 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Check-in Day is an exciting time for everyone! When you arrive you will be greeted by a staff member at the Don Lee front entrance. From there, staff will direct you through the process. You will drive onto camp property and make your first stop at the medical tent where staff will collect any camper medication with corresponding medication form, and check campers temperature. Then, you will find out your campers group number and cabin. We recommend packing a fan just in case your camper is in an open air cabin. If they are in a climate controlled cabin, you can take the fan back home with you. Families will then be directed to either a parking area or directly to their camper’s cabin area depending on cabin location and traffic flow. Camp staff will be available throughout the process to help direct families and answer questions.

Counselors and staff will be waiting at the cabins to welcome campers and their families upon arrival. Families are encouraged to take time to see camp, visit the cabin area, meet counselors, and help carry luggage to the cabin porch. If weather requires, luggage may be placed inside the cabin rooms. While families are welcome to help campers move belongings to the cabin area, counselors and staff will guide campers through the settling-in process once they arrive. Families should not assist with choosing beds, making beds, or arranging cabin spaces, as campers will settle in together as a cabin group with counselor support.

To help make unloading smoother, families are strongly encouraged to bring wagons, carts, or other rolling items for transporting luggage, as camp will have limited carts and moving assistance available. At departure (no later than 4pm), families will follow an exit route based on their camper’s cabin assignment. Staff will direct traffic and assist families as they leave camp.

Once you are within 30 minutes of camp, restroom options become scarce. Please plan to stop in New Bern or Grantsboro to use the restroom and fill up on gas. There is a chance you will have to wait in line as we check in campers and do not have restrooms close to our check in gate.

More information will be shared the week before check-in via automated phone call and email.

If you need to schedule a late arrival, please contact us at info@donleecenter.org.

Friday Evening Pick Up 7:00pm - 8:30pm

In order to get camp ready for the next group of campers and to make sure pick-up is conducted in a safe and orderly manner, the new gate at Camp Don Lee will be closed Friday evening until 7:00pm. At that time, parents will be welcomed into camp with staff there to greet and direct you to the location of your camper's group for pick-up. Please plan to pick up your camper between 7:00pm and 8:30pm. All campers must be picked up by 8:30pm. This information will be shared during your campers week at camp before pick-up via automated phone call and email.

When you arrive at the camper's pick-up location, you will find your camper, their luggage and their counselors. Parents will sign out campers, receive any leftover medications, a camp momento, departure devotional, crafts and luggage. Please double check your camper has all of their belongings before leaving.

These policies are for the protection of our campers and families.

Early Pickup Policy: We strongly encourage campers to stay the entirety of their program, but we understand summers are busy and you may need to pick your camper up early. The early pickup window is Friday afternoons from 1:15-2:15pm. We ask families to abide by this to ensure camper safety and fun! Early pickups must be requested in advance. If you need to request an early pick up, please contact us at info@donleecenter.org.

If your camper is being picked up by someone other than their primary parent or guardian, you will need to fill out a camper release form in your Ultracamp account.
