Celebrating 70 Years: 1948 – 2018!

This year marks 70 years of ministry at Camp Don Lee. As we reflect on the transformative impact the ministry has had on so many lives, we renew our commitment to providing quality programming that allows us to share our love of Jesus Christ through the wind and the water at our beautiful location on the Neuse River.

Join us in 2018 as we celebrate the Camp Don Lee community. Past campers and families, staff members young and old, and Don Lee newcomers are encouraged to take part in our fellowship and fun all year long. We will be announcing several events soon so stay tuned!

Spring Work Teams Needed!

In addition to our regular grounds preparation for Spring, the 2 beautiful snows we had in January caused damage to trees and structures. With our school groups and retreat groups in full swing and summer campers here in a few weeks, there are many tasks which need to be accomplished to keep our facility ready for all our guests.

We have a real need for help in May. There is much debris, trees need to be cut for firewood (we do have an automatic splitter), trails cleared and painting accomplished. If your church group would like to help, please let us know.

We will tailor the day or weekend to your groups’ needs and talents.

Please contact Kate Metts, director, at kate@donleecenter.org to schedule your group.

Need a gift for your special Don Lee fans?

Consider a gift in their honor for 2018!

Honor friends and loved ones with a gift that helps expand and enhance the ongoing ministry of Camp Don Lee, including the new medical center, waterfront recreation, worship arts, shoreline stabilization and much more.

All of these items can be given in honor or memory of a loved one. When you give a gift, you will receive a card that informs the recipient of the gift and the project you chose. There is also space for you to personalize the card. Or we can send it for you from our office.

Confirmation Retreat set for early March

Our Confirmation Retreat, March 2-3, is not just about getting away, but also moving toward – moving toward God, other Christians, and a deeper understanding of our faith. This one night retreat will guide youth in confirmation to recognize, affirm and accept their identity as Christians in the United Methodist Church.

This retreat is wonderful for churches with only 2 or 3 youth in confirmation, as well as churches with 20 or more. Please plan to bring an adult leader for every  five youth.

We will begin Friday night and finish with dinner on Saturday. Clergy are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Registered Nurse or Physicians still needed for Summer Camp

We are still in need of volunteer RNs or physicians to be with us during summer camp. Weeks available are Week 5 (July 8-14), Week 6 (July 15-21), Week 7 (July 22-28) and Week 9 (Aug. 5-11).

In exchange for your service to camp, we provide one week of traditional camp to your child at no charge ($795 value). This amount can also be applied to the cost of multi-week camp experiences. While at camp, you reside in the Medical Center (it has air conditioning) and handle the health needs of campers and staff during the week. You also have a full-time health care assistant to work with you.

If you would like to volunteer or have questions regarding responsibilities, please contact the director, Kate Metts, at kate@doneleecenter.org or call 252.249.1106 ext. 23.
